York BID Coppergate Mural
York BID is committed to delivering further street art projects to tell the stories of York and the people who live in the city. These projects are based on the York Narrative; a collection of stories highlighting York’s history of excellence and innovation in the science, technology, and creative industries.
This mural, made by local artist Leah Pendleton, will be created on the side of Fenwick at the end of January. Leah was inspired by the ‘Coppergate dig’ that took place in the 1970s and unearthed 9m of archaeological layers. Her design shows how each small story contributes to a layer of history, which in turn provides solid foundations for the future.
